Graduated in 1997 from Carthage College (Wisconsin), Bachelor of Arts in German & Creative Writing (English) with a major emphasis on Music (Piano,Theory and Choir) and minor emphasis on French language (2 years before traveling to France).
Experience
10 years of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) teaching (classes) & tutoring (1:1) in South Korea, Malaysia, and short-term in Okinawa Japan. All levels of EFL from new beginner to CPE fluency test. Ages 4 - adult/professional. English Creative Writing student in high school & university, worked on poetry and novelettes and worked in school theater; After US corporate experience which included professional/business writing, 10 years English Writing Instructor both for classes & tutoring in South Korea and Malaysia. All levels of Writing (alphabet/penmenship — business letters — test essays for IELTs, Cambridge and iB-TOEFL — fiction). German & French language student in high school & university - with a term abroad living & interacting in the cultures, university and student theater. Other interests/experience: Due to extra-curricular theater experience in school, business development association & youth leadership in US, I became a Drama Director for 3 student dramas, public speaking/acting (introduction) instructor and coach, and a teen-youth leader/speaker, periodically during my time in Korea and Malaysia. Love tutoring! I believe that "coaching" a person is a very effective way to help them enjoy and LEARN any subject and be able to use/apply it in not just tests, but real life situations and use their skills in personal and professional settings. You don't just 'study to test but study to LEARN' (use it). A tutor can share experiences & teach things that don't come from a textbook or a class (especially for presentation/public environments, life and work experience and cultural encounters).

Hobbies
Many of my experience and qualifications also ’give a feel' for who I am personally. My life has not been about degrees, tests and certifications but about LIVING and LEARNING so I can experience and use all skills, talents, and opportunities that come my way. I believe that had a lot to do with my youth leaders, teachers and coaches in school and life who taught and supported me in much more than a textbook or class. The teachers, coaches & leaders in my young life believed in me and now I love and believe in the children and young people of today! Give them CONFIDENCE and coaching(teaching) them along their endeavours and studies will take them much further in life and open opportunities that they may not have otherwise considered or been able to reach for. I love people and life — experiencing many things even THROUGH my studies and school opportunities as I did (good grades as I became interested in all my subjects/studying, music, sports, travel in US and abroad, theater, youth group, and into working in corporate business all even as a teenager) because adult teachers, coaches, tutors loved life the same and believed that I could do it. I learned to dream and succeed just by going at it! :)
